How many calories should a person need for a cut and lean workout. Also for a muscle gain and tone workout. I hope I am not confusing people on this post.

well alot depends on your size, your body mass, your lean muscle mass and bf%. first off you must detemine you BMR or the number of calories your body burns in a day. this is where bf% , lean muscle mass come into play. this will tell you how many calories you burn in a day and must consume to remain the same size.

for cutting you want calorie deficit. keep in mind that you must burn an extra 3500 cals to lose 1 pound of fat. also, while cutting you'll want to increase protein to help with muscle repair, protection against the catabolic process and keep the muscle mass you currently have. with this knowledge you can adjust your diet so that calorie consumation is below calories burned in a day. another way to cut is to leave your diet extactly as it is and up your activity, ie increase the amount of time doing cardio or add in a walk or 2 during the day.

1g of protein = 4 cal
1g of carb = 4 cal
1g of fat = 9 cal

for bulking you want to eat as much as possible, no no just kiddin. but you'll want to increase both protein and carb counts to where you are above your calories burnt in a day. this way your body has everything and then some to grow.

with more information about you we can help adjust your diet to help you do either.
